07/13: Welcome!
If you are joining me today because you read the devotional at Proverbs 31, I'm so glad to have you stop by! I was blessed to join the P31 team a dozen years ago and they have become my family.
Three years ago, God opened a door I never imagined. While doing a radio interview, the station manager asked if I would prayerfully consider hosting a radio show for women. I shared it with my husband, he said, "You didn't open this door, God did, you need to walk through it."
I asked my pastor the next day at church to pray with me about this decision. He replied, "You said YES, didn't you Prater?"
"No, I said I'd prayerfully consider it."
He said, "Yes, right after you said yes, because you didn't open this door, God did."
On Monday I called Lysa, the president of Proverbs 31 and told her about this opportunity. She said, "Oh Luann, this is an answer to prayer. We have been praying that God would expand the ministry by opening new doors for our speakers and writers. You didn't open this door God did."
After three confirmations in three days I jumped in to what is now called Encouragement Cafe with Luann & Friends (where the conversation's always hot and fresh) ;o)
So what BODACIOUS thing is God calling you to do? He has a plan and purpose to do more than you could ever think or imagine. He cautions, "Don't try to see 3 years down the road, just say 'yes' when I call and take the first step."
Girlfriend, God is calling you to take a step of pure, outrageous obedience today. He's knocking and I'm YOUR confirmation. You didn't open this door, God did....now walk through it.

07/05: Moving!
We are downsizing. Part of me is terrified, another part relieved.
Terrified because I know ALL of this stuff has to go somewhere!
Relieved because life is about to get more simple.
Our house has always had a welcome sign for all who need a meal, a shoulder, a rest from the race. And over the years, we've accumulated more beds, more tables, more comfy chairs to accommodate each need.
I can't help but think of the story of Jesus sending his disciples out without stuff in Matthew 10:9.
Maybe He is doing the same with us. It feels like a new chapter in the book of our lives. You know when you are reading a really great book, like The Noticer, and you cannot wait to get to the next chapter? Like that!
Which is a bit surprising since our mornings begin sipping coffee as magnificent sunrises slip over the lake. Tucking dozens of family and friends in for a movie and popcorn seems normal. And jumping on a tractor to mow 5 acres that melts away stress. We love it here!
But now we're on the edge of a new adventure and it's exciting!
Sitting still too long in one comfortable place might make me to reliant on what I know. God has something in store for me that He cannot accomplish unless I'm willing to let go of my safe haven, my comfy stuff, my normal routine.
We're moving!
Are you willing to let God move you?
